6 people worked three days just to create the ambient (in the picture unfortunately you see only 1/3 of the original
but we reframed it to make the idea stand out more).
The night before the shoot we were not satisfied with the window position so the photographer's crew had to rebuild everything.
A guy painted the wall for 8 hours to recreate with dozens of layers a realistic kitchen wall made black by time and dirt.
The puss is a fashion mannequin from New York. She had to tolerate almost 12 hours of make up before the shooting, which lasted other 4 hours.
But what's more incredible is that the picture is almost not retouched. Every single detail is real.
Eugenio shot about 400 pictures and the choice of the good one was incredibly hard. They were all perfect.
I think we had this good result because the client loved the idea and gave us time and money to make a deep research in order to create the right ambient (beginning of 17th century) and also to explore all the possible executions (We were ready with a picture - oil on board, end of december but we were not 100% satisfied with it.)
And normally this doesn't happen."
